We are happy to co organize Ayub Bellydance Festival Belfast! :)

We will offer three workshops of 2hrs each and a Showcase in the evening (Hafla). You can purchase a ticket for the DAY festival or attend the workshops separately.

Workshop desriptions:

***From Baladi to Shaabi*** a journey along a song from
Egyptian Baladi Queen Fathme Serhan.
Dr Hassan will explain characteritics of different popular and
folk song and how to interpret this characteristics into the
dance.

***Ghawazee***
The Ghawazee dancer of Egypt were a group of female traveling
dancers and refer to the dancers in rural Egypt who have
preserved the traditional 18th to 19th century style. They got
famous through their typical hipmovements , shimmmies and Sagat
playing. The Ghawazee dancers can be considererd as probably
one of the majors origins of the today Cabaret Style Belly
Dance and Tribal Style Belly Dance.


***Folklore in Raqs Sharqui***
Folklore is one of the main characteristics of Egyptian Dances.
Following the quotation of Dr Hassan, it's the stamp of the
Egyptian folklore what's make what we called today Egyptian
Style Raqs sharqui. With a modern raqs sharqui we will discover
how the Egyptian folklore influences the today raqs sharqui.
